I have recently bought a 64MB MMC for my HPM-10 MP3 Player. When installed in my MP3 player (even after being formatted) it says 'File System Error', can anybody help?

According to the
Sandisk support site, you can't use anything more than 32MB.
HPM-10 MP3 Plug-in MultiMediaCard 8-32 MB

yeah slap the memory card in your pc adapter... and format it as FAT (NOT fat32) and the statement that 64mb cards dont work is not true... im using a 64mb card without problems!

I’ve just bought a 64MB card from expansys.com. I’ve noticed that when I put the standard 32MB card in the reader the drive pops up no problem (in my case drive J:\) when I put the 64MB card nothing comes up at all. How am I supposed to format the card if the drive doesn’t appear.
I am running Windows 95.
Please help!!!

Right, I managed to fix my problem with the 64MB card not working in W95. Simply go to the Sonyericsson website and download the latest drivers, V3.0 should do the trick.
Can anyone tell me if larger cards work?
Also, I usually put my T68 and HPM-10 in the back pocket of my jeans. Does anyone else find that it cuts out a lot, especially whilst walking upstairs?
Thanks,

Hi seanc,
Thanx for the info on how you fixed the problem with reading a 64Mb card - I'm downloading the driver right now. Will also be buying a 64Mb card from Expansys shortly.
I've got the same problem with the hpm-10 cutting out. Basically putting it in my jeans pocket is out of the question, so I carry it in my jacket pocket - still cuts out when I bend down to tie my shoe laces...
Do you know where we can buy 128Mb MMC cards? I've read before that such cards are available, but I've been unable to find them in the UK.
Thanx!

I've managed to solve the problem! I visited
www.scmmicro.com (this is the company that make the MMC Reader/Writer for Ericsson) and downloaded the latest version of PP_MMC. This version has a format function which is able to format 64MB MMC which works perfectly in my HPM-10.
Thank you for all of your replies,
Job Done!

Well to get this thing working under XP, it is complicated.
You can not format a new card under XP to use on this.
You have to install the program under 98/ME/NT/2000 and use the format program that comes with the utility to set up the file system properly. Under XP it does some kind of special XP fat file system.
If you use a card formated under XP using the operating system file system instead of using the format utility installed by the setup program you get a file system error.
All files are available at the ftp...
ftp://ftp.scmmicro.com/dm/drivers/
The XP drivers are at
ftp://ftp.scmmicro.com/dm/drivers/PPMMC%20WinXP%20BETA%20driver.zip
You can install the system device using add new hardware and pointing to the location of the 2 files in the zip.
ftp://ftp.scmmicro.com/dm/drivers/Ppmmc.zip
That is V3 of the MMC control program. Does not work under XP. But you only need that if you want to format a new card. There is a MP3 file system and a DOS file system. The MP3 file system is used by special MP3 jukeboxes so don't use that.
