Hi people,

1st post but been viewing the forums for a few months now.

I'm in serious need of some help --the screen of my P800 has smashed to bits. I only had it in my pocket while playing snooker, I took the phone out and it was completely busted. The phone was bought last wednesday.

At first i wasn't hugely concerned as I thought i'd be covered by insurance but now i'm starting to worry.

I called Mastercare to transfer my insurance over from my T68 to the P800 but they want a reference number from my 'Link' receipt but i bought this phone from onestopphoneshop so they refused to cover the phone.

I also thought i'd be covered by some form of warranty
(hey I just bought something that broke while in normal use) but no, onestop.. insist they aren't liable and that i'd only be covered by insurance.

So is anyone aware of something I can do, surely someone is liable to fix/replace this phone - SE, Orange, OneStop etc.

Help! I'm raging here

which pocket was it in? if it was your trouser pockets then its bound to flex a bit while you bend over etc so that would not be so surprising the screen smashed. That being the case its not really normal use.

was this it?

it was in my back jeans pocket although i would still consider having a phone in my pocket as normal use!

can anyone suggest something.

worst case i suppose is to take out new insurance although i guess that will take weeks to send it off, get it fixed, send it back etc.

If have also had a broken screen. The phone was in my front pocket and I was playing bowling and when i got a call and took the P800 out of my pocket it scared the heel out of me. I don't know what happend to it. I send it to :se and they fixed it. but ever since that happend I always have my flip on and use the pocket that comes with the pone. And the phone is now insurred.

Unfortunately I have lost a couple of items of electronics from them being in my pocket and me forgetting they were there and I sat down or whatever...

I think that the P800 casing is not strong enough for that sort of flexing if you bend over, and certainly the screen is not strong enough if you sit on it.

I think you'r F*****, pay out of your own pocket to get the screen repaired (sorry about the punt!) or take out insurance...wait a couple of weeks then say you droped it

When you take an insurrance you have to show the phone that it is not broken. so you are allready to late to take an insurrance.

Brimmie - you say you sent it to SE and they fixed it. Did they charge you?

I only found out that Mastercare wouldn't change the insurance over today otherwise i would have taken out Orange care when I bought the phone. That is something I will be doing today as well as getting some kind of refund from Mastercare.

SE and OneStop didn't want to know, both were very helpful but said 'no, as it's physical damage'. The guy at OneStop said he once worked for the Link and sympathised with them not switching the insurance.

Anyway I managed to get Orange Care sorted out over the phone so will give it a few days before I tell them that my phone is broken

What a day, 2 years of a four year insurance deal now totally useless and an extra fiver a month down the pan.

Thanks for your input guys.
