...I rang up today about 10mins ago and they took my name, mobile number and IMEI number, now she just tells the unlocking team and they send it off to sony ericsson for a code...when that's done they'll phone me back and take £20 from my balance!

its probably a P.A.Y.G Phone hence why or the second is it could be that you are finsihed with your 12 month contract....or the last option is the customer service agrnt didnt know shit because they should have charged you for the remaining of your line rental....
