Right, I've got major problems and it's doing my head in. From other posts, others have the same problems. If anyone wants to take the time to read through this and suggest anything... I'd appreciate it.

Using an internet account using the wap.o2.co.uk APN (username of o2wap, password of password), I can access all WAP sites using the internal browser. (This is also the one used for MMS, which works fine)

If I use the same connection for Opera, I can only seem to access wap sites ending in *.o2.co.uk (clicking on find a site for example takes me to motionbridge, which opera doesn't like)

I have setup another net account to try to get mobile web working, using the mobile.o2.co.uk APN. This account just won't work, won't connect at all, just says 'Activation Rejected' I have tried various different usernames/passwords/DNS entries to no avail.

O2 are adamant that I have access to the mobile.o2.co.uk APN.

Opera works fine using a dial up net account.

The weird thing is.... the internal browser can browse to real HTML web sites apparently using the WAP account, this is the bit that confuses me most.

I just got the phone on Monday, if it isn't sorted soon, I'll be taking it back to the Vodafone shop.

Any assistance appreciated!!

I have heard of loads of cases of Operators not adding correct access to full internet GPRS instead of simple WAP.

I think it's because the phone is so new, they don't realise what is need to get it working 100%.

My previous suggestions to people (which have all worked now) is to mention that you want to use the p800 as a modem for GPRS on a laptop, that way you have to have full internet GPRS to use it.

Normally once this has been suggested, the operator sorts it out.

This may not be your problem, but I would call them and explain that you want to use it with a lappy.

This would explain why Opera doesn't work, although I'm still a bit perplexed as to why you can get full html access through your wap portal on the builtin browser. Maybe try accessing a pop3 account from someone other than o2 and see what luck you have. This would be a decent way to work it out...

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm sure it's not just me.

If someone is on O2 with a P800 and has mobileweb working... fill me in man!

Well I've been assured by a guy called Shaf that he's got it sorted but it way take 24 hours, can you possibly post your settings you use with Opera? Username/DNS etc?

Try using mweb GPRS settings with Opera via O2. Also if you have MMS you may lose Mobile Web GPRS ability. O2 data support in the UK are really helpful though tel 0870 5565000

Im trying to connect to the web via o2 but with my pc, and i got the same problem. When you can access web via your wap account, did you have to change the dial up setting to isdn from analogue? Cos when i tried to connect up via wap account on a machine running 2000 i had the option to set the dial up to isdn and i got it working, but in xp the option isnt there!:-( This message was posted from a T68i

be advised that Opera does not support any WAP sites, only HTML. You definitely need a web account, not wap in order to use Opera. I've installed it on T-Mobile here in the States with the "inernet3" account (which is full VPN capable) and it works fine. It's a bit better than the browser that comes with the P800 but not if you go to any wap sites. Not sure this helps, but just some info...
