> Help!!! Problem with 128 mb MMC and HPM-10

Hi,
Just bought a 128 mb Utek MMC for my HPM-10 (on my T200). The reader reads the card, I'm able to fill it up with MP3s. I use Windows XP and reformated the MMC in FAT (16).
When I put the MMC in the player, I have an "File System error", with
any number of files on the card. I even played with cluster size to reduce the size of the FAT to no avail
Is it possible that only certain brand of MMC work with the HPM-10, if
so, can you point me to some brands that work..

Anyway, I was told that a SD would't fit physically in the reader or the HPM-10

try ScanDisk 128 MMC. really any brand should work.
however, make sure that all of your mp3's are not corruped, in other words, make sure that there are no pauses/skipping from copying a song from a scratched up CD. this can corrupt mp3's even though they play fine on your PC. Mp3 players do not have bit error checking/correction like PC mp3 software players do. this may be the problem. try only burning 1 song on the 128mb mmc and see if the hpm-10 will play it. if not, i have heard stories saying the se mmc card reader/writer doesn't write very good on mmc cards over 64mb.

Re-format card & just put a couple of tracks on it to see if they play OK. Ensure you don't have a none mp3 file on the card such as a desktop ini file or trashcan folder (ensure show hidden/system files in windows).
Also try using a short file name for tracks.

The card and the reader work no 1 under win98 (I installed a station in 98 to ensure maximum compatibility). I formated using windows, a dos box and the supplied utility. Still have the "File System Error"
One funny thing however. When I formatted the MMC using the ROS (record on silicon) file format and transfered some song using a small apps (Zappee), my phone finally played. The catch is, it recognize only the first song. So if I have an album with ten mp3, I will only have access to ten time the first songs. So I've been able to listen to DJ' sets (1 large MP3 files) on my 128 mb MMC, but nothing else.
Any other suggestions?

There is nothing wrong with your MMC. You have to change one of the default options in the XP formatting dialog. I couldn't tell you which one it was because I did it so long ago and I am at work on my WINDOWS 95 (!?!) machine.

if your using the reader/writer that camewith the mp3 it could be that i had trouble with it, keept on crashing my pc, then i got a new reader/writer and it worked fine.

you shouldn't have formatted it.. they come ready-to-use out of the packet with the proper file system.

I had no choice to format, it was formatted in FAT32
And I tried the MMC before formatting, with the same result (File system error)
