Opinions?

I know for a fact that I can't hand dial a phone and drive properly at the same time. I would say looking at the phone then the road back and forth takes away 50% of the concentration for the duration of the dialing process.

I know I have had to avoid plenty of drivers who strayed across the white lines while just talking on the phone.

Talking on the phone appears to take away too much driving attention, even with handsfree (I use bluetooth headset).

Some loose more consentration than others, it should be an induvidial choice to talk in the phone while you're driving or not

I think it's kind of a personal decision as well, if you KNOW that you're not putting anyone or yourself at risk, then I suppose it's ok, i think using a handsfree is better...

I think you shouldn't use your phone when driving at all.

That includes text messages

In most European countries it's forbidden to use a mobile unless with a handsfree.

I totally agree with the handsfree, but prohibiting it all together is stupid. THe next thing you know, a study will come out that listening to the radio is distracting.... then talking to a passenger is distracting.. and then chewing gum is distracting.

In fact in the US, although many states have attempted to pass legislation prohibiting the use of cells without a handsfree, NY is the only state that has actually passed it.

GMG... your rights, responded while driving... and I have a manual vehicle

Harleydog: I understand your argument that it is a personal choice to use handsfree or not, but if you accidently killed someone when driving and writing SMS, did the victim have a choice..? Maybe we all should think more about the people around us than just about our self? This post was posted from a T68
