> T68 - keys do not react

I've had this problem for quite a while now but have always been too lazy to do something against it. My YES and NO keys/buttons don't react anymore. It is really irritating since I can't cancel or leave any sub menus. I've tried to open the phone but unfortunately don't have a torx srewdriver to unsrew the srews. I could bring it to a service centre, however the repair would not be free as my warranty has run out and I don't want to invest too much in the repair since I just splashed out on a new p800 - need the t68 for backup though. any thoughts or solutions??? I could always buy the screw driver if opening the phone would help.

there is dust between the keydome foil (a plastic film between the keypad and the circuitboard) and the circuitboard... you can have it working again by cleaning the contact areas on the circuitboard... but... this problem usually will show again unless the keydome is replaced.

ah ok. thanks again. I think i'll just clean the area and see how long that lasts... if the problem proves to be coming back in short intervalls, i'll just take it a service centre!
but thanks anyway, at least i got an idea of what is wrong with my phone and that it can be repaired!

I'd think very carfully before attempting this, the contacts are glued to a film with bubbles in it witch is glued to the pcb, the risk of damaging the film is high, though using a clean eraser to clean the contacts would work.

Has your problem been fixed already? Anyway, I had a similar problem with my T68i and the service center just upgraded the firmware and the Yes/No (even the "clear" button in my case) buttons started working again.

Jaka instead of paying huge repair costs why dont u get another phone the same from ebay T68-i's are real cheap 25 to 30GBP! :-)
