You must remeber that because you can install aftermarket apps you phone turns into something like Windows!! Meaning windows never ever crashes, IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL ANY APPS ON IT!!!!

However we want to install apps, and make it not crash!

So I did what we use to do with our NT workstations! Which was:

Complete in teh following order:

Master Reset!
Add Contacts!(add them in by hand and not from PC)
Complete a backup!
Restall GPRS
Complete a backup!
Install Oprea
Complete a backup!

You will find that your phone will never crash!

So everytime you install a new program make a backup! If you phone hangs, it then was cause from the no so good programmer who created that last program!

So once it hangs... restore backup from when you phone was in perfect working order!

My phone crashed every day and once I did what I stated above it have no crash since, over four weeks!

Other things that help:
Have as much free space on internal memory.
Set camerma on folder on memory card.
Becareful on what you install!

Is there no easier way than adding contacts in by hand?

My phone crashed a few times before I installed any software on it. Now I have installed apps I wouldn't say it crashes more frequently
