There is another way to backup your contacts & agenda file (plus others).

When using the PC File Explorer software you can do a complete copy of all the folders on the internal memory or the memory stick but some files such as Contacts and Agenda are permanently open and they don't get copied.

But there is a trick I found to get around this

Have File Explorer fired up and locate the file you want to copy such as C:\system\data\Contacts.cdb for the contacts data or
c:\documents\Agenda\Agenda for the calendar.

Then start a backup with the P800 PC software which turns the P800 off then on again to start its backup. Once the little signwave icon in the taskbar starts moving then copy the file in file explorer.

Because all the files on the P800 are closed during a backup you can copy any file.
If you fill up your memory stick card, you may even have time to copy everything from the c Drive before the backup is complete.

PS. during the backup process you can actually delete the file such as Contacts.cdb then past in your back up file.

It does but if you want to hard reset your P800 and start a fresh (because you have some ongoing problem) you can only do full backup or full restore which gets you back where you started.

The only way to then get your Contact/Agenda info back in without doing a full restore is to re-sync with outlook but the info looses the catagory/folder info i.e. Business/Personal contacts.

For most people it is possibly a tip that will be of little use but others may want to clear the shit out of there P800 by doing a Hard reset but still have all the original Contact/Agenda info.

Also, a lot of people having problems or little confidence with backups. This way you know for sure you have a backup of those two very important files. I for one don't want to spend hours/days re-catagorising all my contacts, agenda & task entries.

P800 Calendar File Conversion Backup Agenda
I have owned my P800 since Mar 03. Occassional crashes only. Then a few days ago I began getting the ViewSrc, reason 11 error. Cant open calendar, frequent crashes, battery running down very fast.

Ive been unable to backup or syncronise. unfortunately my last back up was a month ago.

When I couldnt back up I dug around using File Manager and found a few files that i copied to my PC

Agenda (no extension)
Agenda.ini

Ive now dropped my phone in for service. Im expecting that they will upgrade the OS and delete all data (Ive inferred this from other posts).

Can anyone suggest a means to import/convert these files into another program (eg Outlook)?

Id appreciate any other help or suggestions.

sure is, it works for Symbian phones 7650/3650 and sep800
its actually quite a good program for the PC but a find file or search feature would be great, so we can locate certain files quickly, also does anyone know of a prog that does this 'ON' the p800?
thanx
