Hi,
Recently I have been checking on the wonderful P800 mobile and I am still deciding whether I want to buy this one or not. So, in order to convince me, perhaps you can help me with answering some questions, which I could not find myself.
- Is it possible to write some documents (ms-word, or for all I care notepad) and synchronise them later with my computer?
- Did I understand it correctly that the P800 does not support T9 word recognition? If not, how do you experience writing sms?
- Display color is 4090, but you can shoot 65K pictures?
- I read about some problems with the touchscreen, is it really annoying?
- Speeking about the touchscreen, since it is quite sensitive, can you buy a protection where you can put your P800 in?
- About ringtones, it does support wav? So, if I create a sample (rhythm of a beat for example) of an mp3 file or an audiotrack, convert it to 8-bit 11.000 wav format, I can use that as a ringtone?
- Last but not least, I have an 128mb sony cart in my digital camera, can I put it in the P800 as well?
Already thanks a lot for your help,
Geoffrey

Yes, on notepad.

No T9 on it. It would be easier with T9, but with flip open you can use a qwerty keypad or handwriting on the screen.

Screen is 4096 colors, camera is 24,7 million colors.

Nothing that a recalibration can't fix.

It comes with a protection "bag".

Yes.

It has to be in DUO format.

Thanks for the quick reply. For the time being I just got two more questions
- Good that the T9 function is available. If I buy it here in the Netherlands, I assume that the Dutch language will be available as well?
- You mentioned duo format for the memory stick. Does it mean that I have to format the memory stick (like in formatting an harddisk from Fat32 to NTFS), or do you have more then one type of Sony Memory stick? If there is a website with information on this, just mention the link.
The P800 looks just like the mobile I am looking for, an integrated PDA/Mobile, of course with some limited functions (reading but not editing Word/Excel documents etc?)
Some hopes for the future....At the moment they will probably not be available, but perhaps in the future, it would be could if there would be:
- Some kind of qwerty keyboard available;
- If you actually could edit Word documents;
- Can use picture addresses (picture of the person who is calling)
- Radio
- and last but not least, be able to use it as a remote control as well

.
Cheers,
G

There isn't any T9 on P800, but it has three ways of input, a mini onscreen qwerty keypad, handwriting or multitap.
The duo is about one third of the size of a normal mem stick, so you can't use any other than duo's.

Just to add that you can attach pictures to contacts and see who is calling. Radio will never be possible. And remote control is in development by
www.psiloc.com
The things I want most are HanDBase, Word/Excel editing, and a better PDF viewer.

>>No T9. You can use multi-tapm handwriting recognition or the on-screen QWERTY keyboard.

>>>No. Duo is a whole new memory format. It comes with an adaptor to fit into regular Memstick devices, but regular memsticks can't be used in a P800.
