> What makes a t68 a t68?

Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone knows the logic behind phone numberings...ie what makes a t68 a t68, as opposed to t58?
It's the same with Nokias...why is a 3310 a 3310 as opposed to being a 4410?
Anyone got any clues?

Propably the "T" means "telephone" opposed to the "P" (P800) that comes from the "PDA" I assume.
Now the "6" must be the series and the "8" a version of that series. Recenty that 8 was replaced by "10" so we have T610.
Similar with Nokia and all other industrial products.

Well I don't know about SE but for Nokia's the last two digits are significant.
i.e. 3390 would be a 1900mhz gsm phone while a 3360 is a tdma phone.

You have proberly seen this before, but in chinese 4 when writen looks like the symbol for death, 5 is nothing , 8 is good luck , 6 is money that is why they went from t39 to t60 with out using t4x or t5x. The letter at the end refers to the bands used m is triband t39m for example s for 900 and 1800 gsm a2618s for example, e for chinese .

Do the math with 3210. Still the same count? Almost every company has its own rules of models numbering, but its not said model number means anything everytime. Besides, does it matter? If m means triband, so why T68i isn't called t68mi or t68im?
@T-mobile: what about T608 and 606 then?

I think that the sony ericsson numbering is:-
txx0 gsm 900/1800 normal lagauge.
txx2 gsm 800/1800 chinise lagauge support
txx6 gsm 850/1900
txx8 american bands
Also second digit is version.
