Today I saw the P800 in real life for the first time.It is a lot smaller than I thought.I will be getting the T616 though. Anyways, some of you talk about how the T68i is dying and it is in its last days. Yes I know, I live in the US, and I know we are behind in Mobile Technology.But still the T68i is still making SE loads of money. My friends come up to me and are shocked that my phone has a color screen.They are amazed that I can go on the internet with it.They even think that infrared is so advanced. Most of my friends have 3360's and some even have 5610's
LOL!! Now,most of mines are copying me, the trend setter that I am LOL, and I am seeing the T68i everywhere.I see more and more of them. There is a huge advertisement board on the Highway showing the T68i with the MCA 25 next to it.The T68i is still a killer in the US.

I agree with you that we are basically a neglected population when it comes to current mobile tech state of affairs and I honestly don't know why all those corporations keep treating us as some kind of retards, I guess they need a place to dump all the outdated phones at.
It can have its advantages, though. I've had various T68-s for 18 mos now and now that I moved from Europe to the US the phone still holds its style-value. I am really pleased to be considered "cool" and "advanced" carrying aroung a phone that I have had for so long.
The downside - if I moved back to Europe, I guess I'd be really screwed...

Well here in Aus I am alienated for having a Not-Nokia, I can honestly say that just about everyone of my mates has a nokia.
It's sad that the few of us here that are up to date with technology have to wait for eons for the rest of the country to catch up.
I asked a phone salesman the other day if he new the release date of the T610, he looked at me as if to say that I was an idiot and there was no such phone. Geez
And the prices are even worse, at least $1200 for a P800, I think that is the best I have seen.

The reason why the US is so behind in mobile technology has nothing to do with Nokia or Ericsson not wanting to sell phones there.
It has everything to do with Qualcomm and Motorola being US companies, and Nokia & Ericsson (SE) being European companies. GSM is a European standard, CDMA & AMPS are American. GSM (or PCS as it's called in the US) is still spotty to this day. And most operators are still trying to make up for their investments in CDMA/TDMA technology.
With regards to new handsets... you also have to understand the America is the land of law suits. Every product has to be tested to insure that even a child would never get hurt by accidentally smashing his head with it. Which is why the Nokia 7110 (The "Matrix") phone didn't have a spring when it was released in the US for fear that someone might aim it at their eye and pop it...then sue Nokia.

Jplacson is right.being one of the most advanced states 25 yrs ago 4 exapmple they have developed the l8est tech at the time and stuck with it cuz had to cover the investments.another imp reason it is that the american revenues are no match 4 the european cash inflow.US has a spread of 103% oe landlines meaning that the mobile penetration is smaller..all these combined means a huge gap between us and europe

I just called ATT and asked if ATT was going to the support the T610 or in America will be called the T616 and he said we have no information on any such phone whoever told you this does not know what they are talking about.I am so mad I think I will go to Europe get the phone then come back to America with it.GGGRRRR...Sony Ericsson please make a headquaters in the US so I can get that phone within 100 YEARS.

And pls dont forget asia when it comes to the latest in mobile tech.And most of the value added services are here(from txting to video streaming).In which in the US,they value more on calls rather than these although they are catching up gradually.
Also,quite ironic,whats the use of having a p800 for ex. if your network doesnt fully support all its features.Very frustrating if they dont even know the unit itself or its US counterpart.
