I have noticed a lot of comment on this forum about white screen of death, crashes, etc etc. It has been mentioned in various threads before but I would just bring it to the fore again, the thing that needs attention is the phone memory. Not the c: drive or the d:drive.. These are quoted as being memory and people mistake that for computer ram memory but actually they are the hard disks of your p800. You have 16mg of system memory which soon gets used up, with all the applications running, when you close an application it doesn't switch off but remains on in the background using memory. This all gets cleared when you turn the phone off and restart it again. The best alternative to this is the application 'switcher' which can turn off applications and also, has a switch to free memory. SE should have put this in themselves, it would have saved a lot of problems for us users. I can't remember where I downloaded it from but do a search and you will soon find it, or turn your phone off and on again regularly.

you can also shut down applications if you download handy day. I have found that very useful.

Yes I have HandyDay and Filemanager which both do a good job but I was just mentioning switcher because it is a small, free, dedicated app which does the job if you don't want to download bigger apps just to get a task manager
cheers

But, have you noticed with switcher that when you select the 'Free Memory' option it doesn't always shut down non-essential applications that are running?

I don't think it's suppose to close apps it just picks up all the loose memory and restores it. I always close apps I don't want then select free memory and watch the spare memory increase in the task bar (free). Sometimes you have to click it twice as it doesn't pick it all up first time. after this I am usually left with about 8300kb free. with this it helps stop white screens, slow running etc!!!!

Agreed but memory alone won't stop it. Yesterday I got my third P800 in as many weeks. It seemed a lot more secure than my old one (Don't ask - I just really want this to work).
Anyway 10 minutes ago it was working fine - then the phone rang - I took the call - nothing. White screen, battery on and charged.
Hmmm.
I pressed end call on the screen.
The phone did nothing, then it showed..
"Program messages
Reason Code Viewsrv
Reason number 11.."
Then it hung again.
AAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHH !!!!!
