I think you'll need to recompress the video to MP4. There have been a number of threads already about this subject, recommending either Virtual Dub or Mpegable as good solutions.

I am using Adobe Premiere as an editing solution but would be interested if anyone can advise what the export settings would be from this app to work directly on the P800 - I've tried a few things without luck...

I tried using packetvideo but because the file has no filename extension, the software does not identify the file as a video file and so it won't do anything to it. Does anyone know what kind of video file the 9210 views?

It uses its own proprietary format - .nim. The software that ships with the phone allows you to recompress AVIs to this format. It's not a patch on the P800 quality, so you'd be better of recompressing videos from the original source file if you have it.

If I understand you right; you're saying that I need to use 9210 software to convert back to an avi file, then use the avi file to convert to mp4 to play on my p800. Alternatively, you might have the original avi file and so you just convert that into mp4 to play on a p800. right?

Your first statement was incorrect. Assuming that you converted videos to the .nim format in the first place from a (probably higher quality) source file then you should reconvert the source file to MP4 - just forget the files on the Nokia 9210... That's what I'm having to do...

.nim is a proprietary format and you won't find a conversion facility from this to another format.

You're welcome!

Just for info, I successfully used PacketVideo to compress an existing AVI - there are some P800 profiles, so you just select your video, select the profile (e.g. good quality, faster video etc) and start - a minute or so later you have your MP4.
