Hi,
Just received this email direct from SE.
*****************************************************************************
The first maintenance software for P800 will be made available by the end of
this week. Please contact Sony Ericsson’s helpdesk in UK (08705 23 72 37)
for further information.
*****************************************************************************
No confirmation of wether this is UIQ 2.1 though. I'm not confident.

This is not. BUT it does contain some cool stuff!
The ones I remember are:
Improved Bluetooth
Fullscreen viewing of images
Widescreen viewing of videos
Camera API released
Number of other fixes.
I had a recommendation that when upgrading to this firmware, not to do a backup/Restore because that program saves some of the Operating system files, so it's not good to mix them with the new ones.

I would check the version when I pick it up, and if it's not see if they can upgrade it there and then (assuming the shop is a support center too)

The first years upgrades are free as part of the SE warranty.

Not neccessarily. I work in Frankfurt and my local service centre is now asking for proof of a problem that is fixed by the upgrade before providing it free, otherwise its 40 euros. SE helpdesk in UK (and Germany) both say this is totally acceptable policy however I have found a friendly service centre south of London that seems happy to do it for free (so far!)
