Hi all,
one of the reasons i bought a t68i was the allegedly great pop3 mail client. But i cant get the thing to work with either my vodafone.net or lycos.co.uk account.
I have tried setting up the lycos and vodafone accounts manually, using both the named servers (i.e. pop.lycos.co.uk) and the IP equivilents. No joy.
Also, using the Sony-Ericsson Wap Configurator i have tried to set up the vodafone account. Still no joy.
It connects and spends many minutes "finding server", but finds nothing.
If i cant get either account up and running has anyone got any ideas for a free email address that i can setup which will run with the t68i email client?
Cheers all
Nick

Getting email working is a lot easier than you might think! The first thing we need to know is whether you have a data account which you can use. Either a WAP account or a data GPRS account can be used to collect your email.
Have you got this far?
Regards,
Phil.
edit: also, who is your service provider?

It's likely that your GPRS account is for WAP only and not data. This means that it will be unable to connect to the mail server. Therefore you need to either get the vodafone data APN or get the vodafone GSM wap settings.
One you have that you need to use the following settings:
Vodafone email
incoming server: 212.183.156.228
outgoing server: 212.183.156.228
username: vodafone user name
password: vodafone password
Lycos email
incoming server: 212.78.202.250
outgoing server: 212.183.156.228
username: Lycos user name
password: Lycos password
Regards,
Phil.

You will probably need to phone up vodafone CC.

Funny, I've just pasted that link into three seperate topics in the last 2 minutes... proves how much faster you would have had the solution had you have searched...

funny, why are you trying to insult everyone? If you have new information then share it. Dont get all pissed off just because you have chosen to repeat post.

I have nearly exactly the same problem and have tried everything to get it to work!
I have a T68i on Vodafone and use the GSM settings to connect to WAP, as I dont have GPRS set up
I used to have a POP email account set up which worked perfectly. Then one day it simply stopped working. Whenever I click send/receive it simply says Finding Server for a minute then just hangs up.
I've tried everything, deleting all settings both e-mail and wap and reinstalling them with no success.
Can anyone help me?
The server I'm trying to find is pop-ug.doc.ic.ac.uk(146.169.1.47)
Cheers,
Simon

Cheers andyP.
That works, doesnt work for wap though, is that normal?
It matters not anyway as i just have different profile for wap and gprs. Its lovely to have a fully functioning t68i
Trust me i really, really searched the present posts - probably the reason people arent finding the right posts is the need to search for "APN" - before my initial post i didnt even realise i had an option to set one, i still dont really know what it does!
How in the world of sport can :
wap.vodafone.net
and
internet
be valid entries for the same field !!!!
ah well - learn summat everday and all that.
cheers again
