I am trying to use my own scanned in pictures using .jpg format but I cant seem to get the picture to utilize the entire screen. It seems i always have somewhat of a small white border on the left and rights sides. Also, the picture quality seems to be less than some of the ones I have downloaded.

Any hints on how to get the correct quality and size? whats the best format to use?

First off, The screen size is 101 x80. And as the colours are only 256 then you need to have it as those colours. There is a palette of the colours used by SonyEricsson available which will make it look better.

GIF format is what you want to save it as.

Not sure what is free. I use Paint Shop Pro 5 but I guess most people use Photoshop.

Go take a look at downloads.com for software.

I'd jpeg and gif pictures in my phone. I used Photoshop to
change the size to 101x80 pixels. But you mustn't change the
colors to 256. At the page www.sonyericsson.com you can
download the software Sony Ericsson Image editor wich is FREE.
This software is easy to use and when you've changed the size
you can imedately send the picture to the whone with
cable or IrDA clicking on a button then you've a picture in the
"Myt pictures" folder.

I've never changed the colors to 256 for the pictures I've sent to my phone, and they work just fine. And as far as I know, the pictures you send to your phone can either be .jpg, .gif, or .bmp

The 256 color pallet is mostly used 2 show u what the pic will look like on the fones screen. use it last after u make any changes 2 the picture, after resizing.
