Which of the three, would you advise for a person (me) who has never connected a phone to a PC ever, in other words which one is the simplest, most reliable and what software is included if any?

I really recommend Ir, because Windows got built-in support for it, and at least my ir-adapter was very easy to install. This message was posted from a T300

I am currently using IR, I am expecting my bluetooth adapter to come in soon.

Honest to say, though IR is easy, I want to go bluetooth simply because I find it to be a hassle to point my phone at the IR device everytime I want to send or receive something.

IrDA is definitely the easiest. Especially on 2K/XP. But before rushing into it, consider some BT advantages:
1. BT is faster
2. You do not need to point the devices to one another.
3. With it you can use some tricky toys like PCContol, which turns your phone into a remote control for your PC
4. BT consumes less battery than IrDA

The thing I dislike about BT is that I have to connect the ports every time I connect the phone. Well, I personally had a lot of trouble making BT work, all trouble I had were because of outdates software, but now I love it.

Thanks for the advice, i think i'll go for Inra-Red though, as i doubt I'll want to use PCControl, i don't particularly mind pointing my phone at the IR sensor or the loss of power, even though slower, it is easier.

Actually.. Ir is faster than bt.. at least theoretically.. bt is 1mbit while ir is 9.. But if you guys are talking about a t300 then i think the speed is 115kbit on both ir and bt.. This message was posted from a P800
