I know a lot of people on this board have bought standalone P800s and are using them successfully with US carriers (I keep seeing T-mobile mentioned, who's my current carrier as well).
However, is anyone aware of any US carriers that _sell_ and _support_ the P800?
I have the opportunity to have my company pay up to a certain amount for a new phone if I switch carriers, as long as it's bundled with the service, and it would be great if the phone is also somewhat subsidized (rebates, etc).
I'm also a bit worried about using a phone with a carrier that is "unsupported" - even T-mobile has had a horrible time supporting my T68M that I bought from them just 7 or 8 months ago...

based on my conversation with one of Sony's customer service, which I'm not sure whether this is true or not.. Nextel carries it.
Ive been told that Nextel in Nordstorm (SFO downtown) carries it.

to my knowledge, no US carrier yet lists the P800 as a product they sell in their usual packages. i bought mine over seas and signed up with t-mobile for service (southern california). so far, the support is decent, though i haven't called on them much. least when i call and speak with their 'data department', they know what the p800 is and isn't freaked out by me asking questions about it. one support guy even walked me step by step in setting up my gprs and such when the se site's sms setup thingy wouldn't transmit to my phone for some reason.

i have actuaily found TMobil support to be VERY GOOD. I had bought the T68i and the P800 unlocked, not trhough TMobil and way before they started carrying them and anytime i needed tech support on either they have always been able to help me. Even JUST after i got my P800 after it had only beenout in the USA for 1 weeks or so i called them asking how to set up my MMS, and the guy walked me through it perfectly.

599? man no one is going to buy the p800 in us cuz the nokia 3650 is only 150 with att now. i wish other peeps would buy it here, but it aint gonna happen. nokia is king get used to it.

The P800 is officially supported by AT&T, so I'm guessing that it is just a matter of time before they offer it bundled with a service contract. You might try calling their central support - see

Having used both AT&T and T-Mobile (VoiceStream), the only GSM carriers in the US of any note (one state coverage doesn't count, Cingular...), I highly, highly recommend AT&T. Only drawback is a lack of CSD/HCSD, but in ~2 months, they will be rolling out unlimited GPRS for $30/month.

30 a month for umlimited isnlt all that grea its only 10 bucks less than what i pay to make calls a month. i really can't see myself paying more than 20 a month for gprs ever which is only 8 megs right now and i don't even think that is a good enough deal to pay for.

1. The comparisons between the 3650 and the p800 are growing very tiresome. The phones offer different features, and are geared toward different market segments. Comparing the two is like comparing apples and oranges...why do some people persist?
2. T-Mobile does not offer the p800 for purchase, but it DOES support it. I have called them several times with questions about email, sms and wap configuration, and they were prepared for them with specific instructions related to the p800 UI.
3. Cingular is also another GSM carrier "of note" in the US (in addition to T-Mobile, AT&T and some other local carriers). [Whoops, sorry Vod_Guy, I didn't see your additional comments about Cingular....]

Maybe a little tiresome, and maybe target audiences are a different, but the price differential makes a big difference. The P800's what I've been looking for in a phone. But when I can get 80% of what I'm looking for in a 3650 for $150, and a P800 is $600... I start thinking that maybe I'll get a 3650 and use it for a year or two, and move on to what I really want after that.
