I am DESPERATELY waiting for the p800 to come out on T-Mobile in the UK .... as usual they take ages with thier testing of new phones and therefore I've had to wait for my free upgrade (And I should be able to keepmy lovely T68i aswell)....
But does anyone know how I can access the internet (html & ftp sites) from a T-Mobile UK connection? Isit possible? I understand that you can use the built in or OPERA browsers for viewing this type of content, but HOW do you actually access the net? Do you dialup? Is it GPRS? Is it GSM? What does it allcost, who charges you? etc etc

As much help as possible would be greatfully received ... thanks.

I upgraded on T-Mobile via Carphone warehouse about 2 weeks ago. It cost £350 on upgrd + whatever your entitled to have off. You have to go through a phone order though.

I have a p800 on t-mobile.
Originally bought on orange, unlocked and currently using with my t-mobile contract.
You can access GPRS fine for internet access, just goto website and use the configurators to get the settings sent to your phone.
The phone is available on t-mobile through carphone warehouse. Only prob is they use unlocked stock so the same phone could be connected to vodaphone, o2 or sold as sim free. So you will still need to get the settings sent to the phone.

edit: sorry forgot to mention costs. GPRS is by far the best option for using the internet based content on the phone however t-mobile isn't the most flexible network when it comes to billing for it. You either have pay as you go gprs at 0.75p/kb (thats the figures we got in work this weekend) that works out at £7.50 a meg, or a 10meg bundle for £20 ish.
I can't find the actual figures on the t-mobile website though. I have been speaking to a rep at customer services who said they are expecting to launch more bundles fairly shortly.

TMobile have just told me today they now have official stock and my free p800 will be on my doorstep within 3-5 days.

Not sure what to do about gprs yet, will probably use WAP for now...

@T68iKING:

It was originally going to be 79.99, but due to the delay in getting the handset and my contract being expired over a month they've decided to give it to me.

I'm on TMobile Everyone 500, ring cust services up asking for your PAC number to get the best deal!!

I'm on a buissiness contract on a decent-ish monthly contract, and around February my contract should have comeup for renewal, but I said I'd wait to renew as I was promised a free P800 when it cam out upon renewal .... but then I find out bout a month ago when checking up on the release of the P800 that someone else on the company had used MY phone number's eligibility for a free uprgrade to get an uprgrade for somebody ELSE's phone on the company!!

So now I've told the boss he says he'll give me the free upgrade eligibility of another person on the company to get me MY FREE upgrade to the p800 .... he's speaking to our Buissiness contract Personal Advisor today to organise it, hopefully should be in a similar situation to you by this evening/tommorow if everything goes well!!

But you just never know with a company contract and T-Mobile!!

P.S. What do you mean your not sure about the GPRS??

Thanks for telling me otherwise probably today for the first time in about a fortnight I would not have made my daily "Has the p800 been released yet" phone call!! (Losing the will to bother you see, you saved my SE life)

The bestthing is that I get to keep my T68i for days when I fancy not carrying around a multimedia brick and would just rather be satisfied with a machine that lets you make phone calls!! At least that way i'm LESS likely to get mugged!!

Woo-Hoo this ball is at last thoroughly rolling!

If you're in the UK, the best place to buy your P800 on T-mobile is through CPW. If T-mobile offer you one for free or close to, you can get it from CPW by paying their upgrade price less £99.99 and T-mobile will credit the difference to your bill. The main benefit - the phone comes unlocked as it is a GSM version!
