What's the deal with t-zones? When I signed up with t-mobile, the guy (idiot?) told me $10 a month yielded 10mb a month. Today I get the bill and no, actually $10 a month got me 2mb and I was charged for everything beyond that. So I go to their site (recently updated) and in one place it lists $10 for 10mb / month and in another, $20 for 5mb / mo. After going around and around with their entirely worthless "support" people, I'm considering turning this mess over to the state as a "bait and switch" scam. First I wanted to check here to see if I was missing something or what the deal was with them, exactly. Anyone? Bueller?

OK the $10 for 10mb is T-Zones Pro and the 5mb for $20 is T-Zones Internet. Depending on which you signed up for would determine how you were billed. If you signed up for T-zones Pro then fight the charge. I will agree that it's not totally clear which plans are for what to the average comsumer and even the knowledgeable consumer can be confused about some of the pricing they've chosen.

It wouldn't be the first time a billing error happened. On my last bill sms got overbilled but a phone callgot it straightened out and a credit was issued.

If you get a rep that doesn't get it, don't waste your time and ask for their supervisor.

It was T-Zones Pro, yes, and the guy specifically told me (and my wife confirms this because I wouldn't trust my memory 100%) it was T-Zones pro and would be $10 a month for 10mb. I did finally get credit for the extra charge for this month but the whole experience was really, profoundly bad. A simple potential billing error looked to me in my favor since the site reads "$10 / month". Then I discovered I actually got 2mb / month which, to me, is worthless. That means someone bs'ed me somewhere and to top it all off, their "phone support" was worse useless...it was no help whatsoever and just made things that much worse. So we went to the store, the one that always claims their computers are down, and after literally yelling at the idio....guy, I ended up paying what I should pay with 10mb / month but whole lot fewer minutes. As far as they're concerned, that's that but I don't want to have to go through the hassle of changing everything but if I have to, I may as well make it worth my while and sic the state on 'em. I had a similar incident. After researching all the pricing info regarding T-zones and their regular internet, I thought I was educated enough when purchasing one of their plans. The sales person I worked with actually told me that the info in the brochure I was holding was wrong. He said that I'd get double what's in the brochure for the same price. I thought it was a good deal and signed up. When I recieved the phone (V66, backup for P800) and the service overview, the pricing was the same that was in the brochure. I called T-mobile to tell them that is not what I signed up for. They responded by telling me I had to bring this up with my salesperson. Sooo, I called him up and he said something like "Oh, yeah...well, you can cancel the service if you'd like. You have 14 days to decide." I wasn't sure how to respond. I'm also still waiting for him to send me a rebate form for the V66. It's now been a couple weeks. I'm thinking I might find a way to report this guy because I'm not very happy!

I just got back from another visit to the store and although the guy who screwed all this up originally said I was signed up to T-Zones Pro, he actually signed me up to mobile internet which is completely different and that's what the bill reflected. Now I'm supposively on T-Zones Pro at the stated rate of 10mb/$10/month and they gave me 30 free days. I'll believe it all when I get my next bill but in theory, it's all correct. In the end, I guess the guy may have been trying to screw me but I'm just going to assume he was an idiot who didn't know what he was doing and didn't care enough to ask.

I've had my share of problems with customer service. They dont understand their own products. As for cost, i stay with basic T-ZONES and use CSD off peak to hold down costs. This message was posted from a T300

I updated to T-zones pro last friday, I had remembered reading this earlier that week, when she starting referring to the service as internet, and so I asked for the prices before confirming the update, she had me ready to be signed onto the t-zones internet. So that situation is solved. But I think the CS is having the same "deciphering" problems as the knowledgeable folks are. Just a title change on one of the service would be a simple fix, and average person calling asking for "the internet thingy" .... or maybe its just a conspiracy theory to hopefully fatten pockets of t-mobile, but of course you can be credited if you notice???

Hopefully this will help to clear up some of the bad information given to everyone, t-mobile offers two different internet services. T-zones and T-Mobile internet. T-zones is for phone only devices and is $2.99-1mb or $9.99-10mb. The T-Mobile internet is for pda's and pc cards(does not require plan/phone) and is $19.99-5mb on up. -T-Mobile dealer & customer This message was posted from a T300

Kokasin -
I wasn't exactly credited but when you (at least around here, I don't know about everywhere) sign up to T-Zones Pro, you get 30 days of it free. When t-mobile got everything straightened out, they applied that 30 days to when I first signed up, not now, so I ended up not being charged for the first month of mobile internet. It's not enough to ask for "T-Zones Pro" as opposed to "that internet thingy", you have to check what they've signed you up to before you signed off on it. The t-mobile guy said "T-Zones Pro" and confirmed the price to my wife and I....and then signed me up to mobile internet. As I said, I don't think it's a conspiracy, I think it's that the clown didn't know what he was doing and didn't care enough ask someone who did. FWIW, when I asked for a T300, he first said they couldn't "upgrade me", then that they didn't sell T300 phones. When I said "screw it, if you can't sell me a phone, I'll go to AT&T where they can", suddenly T300's appeared and upgrading was no problem at all.

T-Mobile: Service with a smirk.
