> My P800 seems to crash regularly
Bookmark topic
Every few days I get a white screen, with a graphic of a P800 on it. There is a big "1" pointing near the power switch, and what looks like a 10-minute clock icon on the top right. Is this a crash?
The first few times I thought it was a warning that I only had 10 mins on the battery, but now I realize it has nothing to do with that.
I have to remove the battery to get the "crash" screen to go away.
I have also once got a big red ! icon too.

It means you have to hold down the power button for ten seconds or so and it should turn off/ reboot.

I have no idea....just crashes sometimes I guess, try not to load up too many things at once....close programs that you aren't using, stuff like that...

It's got nothing to do with the phone being unstable, it's more than likely to be your apps that are unstable, like the previous advice, I would say, first thing to do is get the latest firmware if you don't already have it, uninstall any crappy beta software, Mines crashed a couple of times to but that was because of the game stunt run, I think it was because I had alot of beta apps installed at the time, after I uninstalled all crappy and untested software even my stunt run worked fine, I AM SO SICK OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE P800. I have mine for about 1.5 months now and it's the greatest phone.
My pcsuite installed first time. Not a single error, EVER. and the phone like I said gave me the hanging exclamation once or twice but after I only installed tested apps it has never crashed since and God willing will never crash again. I've got firmware R1D and my phone is the GREATEST.

Sorry to rain on your parade yusufl but my phone has no apps installed: it is running R1D firmware and crashes as I describe every few days. It crashes when in my pocket, so I just wish it would reboot itself so I dont miss calls: I'd be none the wiser it had crashed.
I guess the Symbian OS is a toy OS, if one errant app can bring down the entire phone. A bit like Windows 3.1. And as unrealible too. Pretty embarassing for something this new.
Dont get me wrong: I love the phone. However the firmware is flaky and the PC sync software is truly crap. I've never had to write my own C++ app to get any device to reliably sync before.

anypennell, you clearly have defective hardware. I am also running R1D and have only had 3 crashes in 2 months of ownership. As a previous poster mentioned, I usually remove the last thing I installed and that fixes things up. I had one crash while writing an SMS, but the other 2 were running 3rd party apps. I've never heard of a spontaneous crash while the phone is not in use and this suggests to me that you have something wrong with the phone hardware itself. Try getting it exchanged for another unit.

I know this is a few months on but did you get your phone sorted? My phone crashes at least once a day. Ever since i got it regardless of the software installed.
If you managed to fix it please tell me how
