Bookmark topic
i read in a forum that various p800 owners in uk who ordered stuff from p800er got huge tax bills from fedex. i think 1 guy bought 2 screen protectors for 14quid and got taxed 18quid extra....it seems bit harsh to me. and brando's site doesnt seem so...professional and was wondering if ne1 from uk has ordered from there and would like to share their experience? thanks in advance

if u want brando screen protector get it from their official site....i ordered 3... came in normal envolope as one would have expect... didnt cost me anything more than what you see on the invoice.
purchasing items that are heavier would obviously get heavily taxed... but u shouldnt expect that with summit like a screen protector.
"Product : Brando WorkShop Screen Protector(SonyEricssonP800)

It's not shipping, it's import duty.
Same thing can happen when you buy CDs etc from overseas and get them delivered into the UK, and why for example there's a restriction on the value of goods (and fags etc) that you can bring back from your holidays.
I think there's a de minimis limit below which they don't charge - £15 I think. And I think it may be as simple as keeping the value of each package below £15. (So 2 separate orders for a £14 item - no duty; one order for £28 worth - duty.)
Fedex or whoever have to pay it to customs when they bring it into the country - and funnily enough they want it back off you.
Most suppliers won't tell you about this - you only find out when you have to cough up, and there's not much you can do.
If you're keen to check, try the Customs & Excise website -
www.hmce.gov.uk
In fact, hang on and I'll check. Yep, here you go:
http://www.hmce.gov.uk/business/tradinginternet/tradinter-27.htm
(So £18 limit then.)

The price customs look at the sale price including postage, so if you sent it Fedex, that will probably take most of the £18 !!!
