i have a t68i and a comp with win98SE installed and im planning to buy one but im wondering if there are any compatibility issues with different brand names or it just depends on the software that i'll install.

there are plenty of factors that may cause incompatibility.
hardware, applications, OS. if you want to be sure, read the system requirements of the adapter you plan to buy and/or research about the product from the internet before getting one.
