I have a P800 from Vodafone Connect and it allows use of other networks SIMs. However, I am having a problem connecting to other networks GPRS (both orange and T-mobile). Will continue persevering but just wondering if anyone else has such an issue or if theirs is working?
Have used the SE website to download the orange (PAYG) GPRS settings, also got orange Customer Services to talk me through it and they couldn't solve it. The GPRS globe symbol comes up for a while, then it vanishes and clicking the signal strength indicator comes up with "NETWORK: Orange, GPRS: Attached, (logon failed)"
Reason I need to use the orange is because orange PAYG GPRS is cheaper than Starter on Vodafone Leisure
Thanks in advance!
Thought I was alone in my P800 joys and woes, but this website forum is sooo cool
Happy Easter to all

Having the same problem with Orange PAYG WAP & Internet (but not MMS) on a SIM-Free P800. Works perfectly on O2 Pre-pay GPRS & MMS.
Called Orange Customer Service twice who were helpful but baffled. Helpdesk asked their Techsupport team who claim GPRS on the P800 will only work on their Pay Monthly SIM's and not the Pay As You Go ones.
Sony Ericsson don't wanna know and replied by saying it's a network issue.
Will keep on calling Orange until it is solved and will definitely not return the P800 for a refund as they have suggested.

I have been experiencing the same P800 GPRS connections problems with Orange Pay-as-you-go Payg access using the payginternet APN.
I've had numerous calls with Orange tech support and I was finally told today (by a very helpful Customer Service Representative named Costa, at ext. 24590) that the problem is that the P800 is a class 10 GPRS device (4 up, 2 down), while the HLR entries for Orange pay-as-you-go customers only authorize the Orange GPRS BTS's to up up to GPRS class 8 (4 up, 1 down).
For info on GPRS classes, check out:
http://www.gsmworld.com/technology/gprs/class.shtml
I'm not a GPRS network infrastructure engineer, but as far as I can understand, this means that the urban legends that I've seen circulating that Orange is prohibiting Pay-as-you-go customers from using P800's is partly true -- it's not just P800 customers, it's just any of the new GPRS class 9 or above devices coming out.
I'm very surprised that the phone itself isn't capable of "dumbing down" to lower classes when the higher ones aren't available. We tried playing with the classes on the last tab of the internet connections page, but to no avail. The Orange CSR said there was nothing much I could do at this point about the situation.
I'd be really interested in hearing whether anyone else has any luck with this.

Done.nothing really! Looks like 0range PAYG have at last updated their systems to accept the GPRS class of the P800 as explained by MadManMike. Just use the standard 0range PAYG GPRS settings for both paygwap & payginternet APN's (in address).
