Sony Ericsson Q1 pre-tax loss 113 mln euro

STOCKHOLM, April 24 (Reuters) - Swedish-Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson made a 113 million euro pre-tax loss in the January-March period, Sony Corp 6758. said in its fiscal year-end report on Thursday.
In the fourth quarter of 2002, Sony Ericsson, the only loss-making top-five handset maker, made a 77 million euro pre-tax loss.
Sony said the company's poor performance was a result of increased pricing pressure and costs of phasing in new GSM products.

Serves them right for taking soo long to get their act together. Look at what they did with the t300 and t310. Their pricing is off !! Look at the Mca20 and Mca25. Look at their price droop !! They can't even stick with one distributer here in Malaysia. Their adds in the papers are dull and only take up a quarter of a page while others like nokia and samsung take up full pages and are in full colour !! What do you expect ? Failure of course !! They better do something soon or else ...

The only reason im going to dump SE if they close shop their joint venture.Other than that,profit or loss,il stick to SE.

It is so weird....they have T100 and P800 out...both phone was claimed to be leader in some country and a major sucess based on Ericsson std BUT....they still ship less than 4th Quarter 2002?
Lets see what happen when Quarter 2 over....Tht's the time for T610 to launch (If no problem occur)

@ All,
C'mon.... Stop complaining! SE did all their best.... It's their strategy they choose. If you like their phones then just purchase it otherwise... just get others. Whether profit making or not... it really doesn't matters to us..
