my question fits better over here so... im on a SE t300 phone and with cingular. everything works on my phone (thanks to you guys!) cept for my pop email. ive trying 3 or 4 different POP accounts... my yahoo which i get free pop, my XXXX.com acct which is server thru yahoo services---both need authentication which appears to be a problem for checking email on a cellfone. i also tried two other email accts... hotpop.com & inbox.ru which neither worked. although i dont know any of the server numbers associated with them which some people said might help.
can anyone direct me what to do? i cant send photos or anything right now! thanks!

Do you have a working connection for it yet? i.e. you either get the messages "finding server" or "server not found"?
If you have that sorted then this shouldn't be too difficult to figure out.
To find out IP addresses go to your windows dos prompt and type "ping mail server" without the quotes.
i.e. ping pop.yahoo.com
A load of data will appear including the IP address of the server.
Note that you must be connected to the internet to do this.

originally i was getting "server not found" message... but now thanks to you i pinged my yahoo.com acct and i am able to recieve but not send. i get the message "send failed".
with my acct using yahoo servers, i was able to recieve all 15 email in my box. i came back to the phone half hour later and now i cannot access my box at all. it says wrong name or password. im supposed to key in dave%abcd.com for the username. i tried just "dave" but it didnt work. i also tried
dave@abcd.com and it didnt work either.
both emails find their servers now. both cannot send. i am using the same IP for incoming and outgoing for each of my POP accts. ive tried putting the smtp.abcd.com into that acct for the outgoing server and that didnt work! i cant send....
possibly i should use some other POP email for incoming/outgoing

i fixed my problem. using the ping feature in dos promt again i ran a ping on smtp.mail.yahoo.com and gave me a little different server. this allows me to send email now from the T300!
here are yahoo's servers:
incoming- 216.136.173.10
outgoing- 216.136.173.12
does anyone know how to store email addresses so you can send them with the POP acct?
