Here in the states the rate plans are just getting better and better all the time, so much so lots of people are dumping thier landline completely. The wife and I have done this for like 4 years now. Anyway I was curious about users in other countries? Here in the states you can call a cellphone and it costs you no more than if you called a landline, but I know that's not the case in Europe and other places.

Here in the Philippines, it slightly more expensive to call a landline (1 penny/min more) That's about it. And it's a lot easier to get a mobile phone here than it is to get a landline...specially with pre-paid (pay as you go) mobile phone kits.

I guess it depeneds on whether you make or receive calls more ... I'm guessing you don't receive too many calls - as you have to pay for these in the US whereas you wouldn't for a landline ...

In the UK ... most people still have both. Landlines are dirt cheap for making long calls with some good plans now (like unlimited for a certain fee per month, anywehre in the UK). Once you are on the phone for two hours at a time, free minutes on a cell-phone run out real fast.

in the uk. contract mobiles to landlines are 10p-30p peak 0p-20p off peak (approx) prepay are more expensive. landline to mobiles are 27ppm peak 19ppm off peak and 10ppm weekends (approx). Yes, we do get ripped off in this country. This message was posted from a P800

Well our plan has 800 anytime minutes, of which we typically use about 500 or so each month. It helps that weekends are free, so we'll typically make any long calls during the weekends. Now that both of our families (Mom & dad) are also on TM which makes the calls free that helps to save a bit too.

WOW! No such thing as 'free' calls here in Holland. Landlines are still cheaper, but mobile plans do get better and better. Still, most ppl do have a landline as their 1st phone.

In Poland prices we got monopolist landline operator. Its in private hands for a while, but instead of falling down, prices went up about 30-40% and cellular operators are fighting for customer very hard. With 90% market share its not easy for other operators to compete. So i guess more and more people are going to chose mobile as only phone. Calls prices are still a lot more expensive using mobile, but mothly fee on contract is the same (mobile sometimes even cheaper)

Here the landlines r still cheaper but i,4 example i do and receive calls on mobile only cuz its handier to get hold of some1 now instead of calling 3 fixed landline nrs.so mobile is my prime number.also here we have monopolistic behavior from the only ll operator and the prices r constantly going up on landline calls..
