Hi, sorry i cant offer you a solution all i can tell you is that the way to tell if your using wap or GPRS is, gprs has a little world icon that has brackets either side when transmitting and wap has a little phone symbal.
I am with t-mobile and the setup file worked for me BUT i had to ring them and get them to activate GPRS, has this been done on your phone?
sorry i cant help further.

yeah i rang em and had it all activated.

in the default browser: i get that world icon for about 3-4 seconds then it dissapears

and in Opera: i get error messages like "cant connect to remote server" and "connection rejected"

EDIT:

ok... i sent myself the "Pay Monthly GPRS WAP" settings from the O2 website...

now as far as i can tell... the basic browser if working fine...

but Opera still isnt - the world icon is there, and it seems to be transmitting, but after a while i just get "unable to connect ot remote server"...

why would the default browser work but not Opera???

this... is wierd!!!

whats the bloody difference between these new "Pay Monthly GPRS WAP" settings and the ones above that were emailed to me???

i dont understand how noone else has had problems

i am not on o2 so this may not be of any use.but i am sure i ahve read somewhere in the forums that o2 dont let you have gprs and mms at the same time its one or the other ie you can have gprs for surfing or you can have it for sending mms but not both.
know it sounds strange but sure i have read that.

sorry cant be more help

From reading some other posts it seems that opera will only accept full GPRS internet connections. Cant be sure though becasue I dont have a P800. If this is the case then I dont think you will be able to use Opera because O2 will only give you the WAP GPRS account, not the data GPRS account. This is because If you want MMS then you can only use the WAP APN, not the data one.

Regards,

Phil.

l got my p800 this morning, and had the same problems. What you need to do is set your wap account up and select it for internet usevia opera, and your gprs account needs to be set for wap use via the built in browser. The default browser is capable of serving both wap and web via gprs and dial up, but opera seems only to work with dialup. Hope this helps This message was posted from a WAP device
