I noticed when I was checking the AvantGo web site that it now supports the Series 60 phones such as the 7650 and 3650. Does anyone know if there is an chance that this will work on a p800 or if they are planning to release a version for the p800?

Only reason against it is the P800 is the only UIQ platform, the Series 60 version has the 7650, 3650, SX1, and another new one that I forget the name of, so they have a much wider market for it.
Saying that though, it's not too hard to make a few changes to the code since they already have the basics made.
