Hi!Just read about www.waptunnel.com and i don't get it.They provide an IP adress free of charge? U mean to tell me that if i connect to that IP thru wap , i won't pay the wap-time? Or? Cuz they say ~Waptunnel.com is an open alternative to the telecom gateway services that can be used by users throughout the world for their browsing and development purposes. ~ What do u get out of this one? And if this is not the puropse of this gateway, then what is it? Cuz i've got unlimited wap thru gprs for a 4$ flat rate so it won't matter too much 4 me but i gotta know..good to learn new things everyday!: -)
I am pretty sure orangeman can reply to this thread

Waptunnel don't supports the wap2.0 (like colour images on wap sites), and don't alow you to download items from wap sites (like ringtones, games). The ''Ericsson IP'' is better: you can visualize colour images, and can download anything (ringtones, games...). Sorry but now I don't remember the ericsson IP.

@neon: thanks but i still don't have the answer to my main question: by introducting the ericsson IP ort the waptunnel Ip , do i get free wap-surfing (grprs/ csd?).
PS: i can find the ericsson ip in some posts just 2 days ago:)

the ip they provide is known as a gateway
information from a wap site is processed on a wap gateway before it reaches your phone

certain gateways like phone.com's up.link gateway used by my telco provider screws up when theres too much info fed to it, failes to decipher xhtml pages and to put it simply... SUCKS!!!

theres where these public wap gateways step in...
they provide a gateway which can be utilised globally and (hopefully) will solve those problems and a 3kb file size limit problem faced by many other gateways...
you STILL have to foot the normal grps/csd fees but since you put it that way it shouldnt be much of a problem to you

i did a little test drive...
or should i say test surf on this 'waptunnel' gateway and found it to be unsuitable for mobile phones...
upon further research, i found out that this is a 'thinflow' gateway which i persume is a product of flowfinity which mainly focusses on blackberry devices

i suggest you try these gateways instead IF the current 1 is bothering you
ericsson - 193.95.167.178
halebop - 194.237.106.73
personally i use the halebop gateway which is a product of drutt, i find it very reliable lately (used to be a little congested at night last time)
a further note to 'neon's post is that esato.com is totally barred from waptunnel's gateway

hope you learnt something new today

You have to use the web connection, and you have to insert the IP into the wap profiles, to use web connection to surf wap pages with your phone.
These wap gateways (like waptunnel and ericsson IP) are convenient because you can pay for a web connection (and not a wap connection, thet is more expensive).
For example, i have free web connection (but not free wap connectio) with my operator, and I use the ericsson IP to surf wap pages with my phone for free. It's a very useful trick

I have a flat (it's called PROMO GPRS), I pay 20 euro for 1 month. It's not free, but I can be connected to internet for all day paying only 20 euro for a month. It's great for me
