so how do i do this...take a tune that i have on a cd say for example and be able to convert it into a polyphonic ring tone...is there something i need to use on my pc...some sort of software etc...that would take an mp3 and rip it to midi...
im pretty certain thats wot the p800 uses for its polyphonic ringtones...like i said if im wrong then pls correct me...

I think there's one program that can do that... but it sucks. Your best bet is to just do a search on Google for the MIDI you want.
Type in the name of the song or artist, then 'MIDI'
example:
Search:
Oops I did it again Britney MIDI
Trust me, finding a decent MIDI online is a lot better, and faster, than converting a WAV to MIDI... less stressful!

OH!!! And just a hint for those of you who want to use a WAV as a ringtone... if you have a real WAV editor like SoundForge or seomthing, recompress the WAV file to use GSM6.10 instead of PCM. It won't sound as good over headphones but it works perfectly as a ringtone since this is the format that the P800 uses for the Voice Recorder...it boosts just the right frequnecies that sound really loud and clear on the P800 speaker...
And it only uses up 1/10 (yup 1/10) the file size. (It also helps to turn your WAV into a mono signal)
I just converted the Danmass-Happy Here ringtone WAV from 1.8MB down to 178KB using the GSM6.10 codec. Sounds the same over the P800 speaker, and it's a lot louder as well. I'm still looking for a MIDI of this song though. 2KB is still smaller than 178KB so a MIDI is still welcome.
