Dear all,
Under WAP services>Select profile, I have Vizzavi GPRS profile set so I can browse the WWW using GPRS not GSM. Cool.
However, I currently have my T68 configured to use WAP dial-up to connect to the BTInternet/BTOpenworld server so I can use the Messages>Email to manage my emails. If I try and set the Vizzavi GPRS profile to access my emails instead, it just doesn't work; instead, it seems I need a dial-up GSM connection. Is this because to access my (free) BT emails, I need to access them using a BT dial?
I would love to use GPRS instead of GSM to Messgages>Email>Send/receive...
Please help!!!!

It's likely that your Vizzavi GPRS account is for WAP only and not data (html, pop3 e.t.c). If vizzavi does a data GPRS account then you need to get that APN to use it with email.
I have the same problem with my O2 account and have to use GSM for my email. Isn't a major problem though, just a minor inconvenience.
Regards,
Phil.

@nsingleton: you could have saved your time! The request is for BTOpenworld email over vizzavi GPRS, not O2 GPRS.

Ok then, another question on this theme -
Is their a cost benefit to setting SMS access to GPRS vs. GSM?
Steven.
Hey nsingleton,
Thanks for this - although this is for O2, I have the same set ups for mmy Voda GPRS and BTInternet mail account; its just that in Messages>Email>Options, Connect using will only allow me to send/receive email if I use a dialp up connection, *not* the GPRS data account(s).
Now, I did wonder whether this was something to do with BT requring its users to access their BT accounts once every three months minimum or so, by dial up, in order to keep their account(s) activated.
I would like to access my emails via GPRS, and see no reason why I can't, but I'll stick with BTInternet/BTOpenworld as I've had the account for so long now....
Cheers,
Steven

the problem wasn't your BT email account, it was your GPRS.
If you are sending via GPRS then you will probably have to pay for the GPRS connection time as well as the standard 'flat rate' text message charge. When you send via GSM the connection is included in the cost of the message.

O2 tell me that they don't support SMS over GPRS.
I have tried it and it doesn't work.
I set up an email account with O2 and set my main account to forward mail to it.
