Hi guys,
it seemed that on the mobipocket site, it is stated that MobiPocket Reader comes with every P800 phones. Is this true? Cos I had bought a 3 months old P800 from someone else and there isn't any MobiReader on it.
Anyone knows where I can download one? I tried the MobiPocket Reader Pro (free download) from the MobiReader site but had problem installing it (message "does not work on this network" keeps appearing).
Anyone can point me somewhere I can download? Or even kinder yet, sent me one?

Thanks guys, can always count on the you all at esato...

Make sure you downloaded the proper version (Symbian UIQ)
The download installs on your PC, make sure your P800 is connected to your PC, then after the PC Mobipocket Companion is installed, it will ask what device is connected...select P800, then it will install MP Reader to your phone. MPR is free, MPR Pro is not.

mine did not have mobi pocket on it and i bought it new! I am going to download the standard version though. I have a quick question do you install the p800 version on your p800 or on your pc and then sync with p800, it is not clear! is there an sis file?

Yes there is a SIS file, but I wouldn't really recommend it since you won't be able to get the free e-news (Time, Newsweek, etc)
The normal way is an EXE file that you install on your PC, then it installs the reader on the P800. You will get the Pro version first... then after the trial period, if you decide not to purchase the PRO version, the reader will go into STANDARD (FREE version) mode. If sometime in the future you decide to purchase the PRO version.. just enter the unlock key, and it will become the PRO version.
Either version is fine. If you read ebooks a lot, or use the MPR a lot, the PRO version is worth it since it comes with a memory manager, scrolling, and screen orientation tools.

thanks alot
I am thinking of buying mobi-pocket pro as i read quite a lot ond it would be nice to get books at such a discounted price. I have a couple of worries though.
1) Is the p800's screen really big enough to read a full book on?
2) Does it hurt your eyes after a while reading each page from the p800's screen?
If someone who uses mobipocket with a p800 regulary could reply i would be grateful.
Thanks

I have used different readers on different platforms and this one is OK all in all. It does not tend to hurt your eyes, remember that since the screen is self lit, you allways get good contrast, even in low light situations wheras sometime swith a book you wont.
I find that reading e-books on pda's is very good for a couple of reasons:
1) You can read at night in bed without waking up your spouse.
2) You allways carry 2 or 3 books arround wherever you go so lines, etc are less bothersome.
3) in a long meeting/lecture/etc. you can make like you are taking notes whilst reading a novel....
4) No more embarrasment the fromv title of a book would proclaim something you would rather not have the world know ie "Hyper Contageous Cooties and You"
What would be fantastic is if they had a full screen wide view. as it is the reading area is a bit small.
Anyway, like most things on this phone, other platforms have more features (per program) but in general it is adecuate.

I think its great, I have read two full books already with the standard version. On a bright day I can even read witout the backlight. The Jog dial has to be the best way of changing pages (don't use the auto scroll feature us it isn't super smooth). The only thing I have found that is a bit annoying is that if you have the backlight set to always on while reading (at night in bed), if you take too long to read the page the backlight auto sets to 50% brightness then back to 100% when you 'Change the Page'.
Highly recommended.

LOL
Thanks for this review Leo.
Do you have to set the back light of the P800 to always be on while you are reading or does the program do this for you?

I don't have a PC to install software - I use a Mac over Bluetooth. I installed the UIQ.sis version of the reader but the problem is, it seems that it doesn't see books stored on the phone (at least the free ones for download) in its library. I have to click on the book that I want to read in the "messages" section under "beamed", and then it will open the reader program. Does anyone have this problem?
Thx
