Hello!

I'm using Mpegable to convert and resize my videos for the P800. My question is, is there are better way to drop the resolution down to the required dimensions than to use downsampling? Sometimes the minimum downsampling that you have to use drops the whole thing really low.

What I would like to see is a program that allows you to specify what dimensions you want, and the program resize it to the biggest one that fits the specs.

Cheers!

In general terms, when coding at low bit rates there is some rules that is universal:
fps vs. picture quality
I you want to keep the frame rate you will loose a lot of picture quality (in the individual frames), and vice versa if you want to keep the picture quality you loose frame rate and in some cases you have a slide show. Also remeber to split the frame rate equal from the source, (for PAL 25 fps then set the frame rate to: 12,5 fps, 6.25 and 5 fps).
Specific size of the picture for the video for the P800 that works best is QCIF (176x144) and sub-QCIF (128x96).
Any bit rate above 200 kbits is a waste of space and makes the player in the P800 even slower.
