I took my P800 to the BMW dealership to try their BT car kit before buying one for my car. While the P800 recognized the BMW the same can't be said the other way. A salesman demonstrated with a Nokia 6310i and the BMW BT hoovered all the contacts from the phone and onto the display. Anyone got any ideas as to why the P800 won't go all the way. It pairs but that's it.

It was installed on a 5 series at the BMW showroom. I want to install in an M3. Both 2003. Why? What's the difference?

Maybe it requires FTP? I don't know if 6310i has that profile (7650 has), but SE doesn't seem to have it on either T68 or P800.
BT just isn't the strongest side of P800...

Dear Omar, Have you find any solutions. I got the same problems but i can tell you that the t68 and t39 wrking fine with BMW BT kit, it's only the P800 that doesn't make the coupling. Anyone has a solutions.

As pearl62 said, the P800 does not support the Handsfree profile (not to be mistaken with the Handset profile) as of Bluetooth Version R5A. So, unfortunately there is no solution until SE decides to come out with a new Bluetooth version supporting the Handsfree profile.
Sorry.

Ciao,
Alex

Please Help!

I've paid top $ for my SIM Free P800, not to mention the $$$ for my BMW X5 and cant get the blasted Bluetooth Car Kit to function.

I’ve been using the T68i with great success; I decided to upgrade my phone and now I’m totally deflated because I can’t use the cool features of my car with this great (but now annoying) phone.

Before I go mad, is there a fix insight?

Monty

I upgraded my phone to the latest firmware, R2F. Unfortunately Bluetooth is still R5A. So the P800 will not connect with the BMW BT car kit, I tried again yesterday. It pairs/bonds but that's it. Problem is with the phone, not the BMW BT.
Which goes to show this is still an incomplete phone. And I still want fax!!!

same problem I have, will swap my current MY2001 M3 in September for a MY2004 M3 (with SMG2 this time) and I decided to take bluetooth aswell since the BMW fixed phone is a total piece of ancient crap (€1000, ups!). From the BM3W site in the UK I already heard of several that the P800 won't communicate with the BT set.

Since the price of a fixed BMW phone is the same as the BT kit with an extra Siemens S55 (maybe even a bit less), I'll go for that, that way I have a backup in case the P800 dies or is stolen.

My buddy who has an M3 with BT says the P800 will make the car ring over BT, it will just not do SMS or phonebook...
