With the Financial problems of Ericsson, the future of SonyEricsson is maybe sony buying the 50-50 share of Ericsson in the joint venture.

Read the article on CNET:

http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/handphones/0,39001719,39080302,00.htm

the article writes

Ericsson: "We will not put any more capital into the joint venture if it does not show results."

cnet: "there still remains a great deal of optimism about Sony Ericsson products, both from the consumers and the analysts. "

"hould Ericsson decide to halt its investment in the venture, Sony may well buy over a larger stake in the 50-50 entity. This would put the Japanese company in the driving seat of the partnership, but, essentially, the handset operation and products will remain intact."

Sony have ruined ericsson, they where always known for good design and leading the market. Now se seen to be just market followers with some of the worst design i've ever seen (the t610?) This message was posted from a T68i

Well.. I think their problem is design too. Need more nice looking phones, EG. T68/i, T200, R600, T28,T29. Nice looking phones, phones that appeal, not phones that make people go "ULGY".

This could really cause problems world wide. We don't want bloody Sony Phones... Ericsson gives it that kick, Ericsson is the real company in this. Not sony. Sony couldn't make an attractive mobile if an idea bit them fair on the arse.

There must be something sony and ericsson (not handset devision) can do. They both have plenty of money.

I think the big problem though, is the look of the phones.

Interesting statement, "Sony ruined Ericsson"

Rescued them from oblivion, is the reality, their phones were utter poop, and were selling VERY badly.

My first mobile was a Sony, the analouge CMR111,a cute little palmphone with a flip down arm.
It was light years ahead of the competition, I will agree that they may have fooked up the styling, the new one's look very Sony 'RETRO', but the technology is all Sony and better for it.

Lets see the design of all the Sony products, how can we define it ??? well wonderfull, clean, nice whatever, Sony makes the best design, just see the Wega Theater, Television, MD, MP3 player, Clié, VAIO, .... All these products are just too beatifull so I don't think that Sony is really behind the design of phones. My point of view ....
