I just bought a Bluetooth USB by Billionton and the manual says I need to install the Bluetooth Software on Windows XP. Everything went fine but seems an overkill. It installed two more icons in the notifiation area (I use Windows XP): a BT icon and a BT network with a red cross on it.

1. Do I need this software at all under XP? What I'm after is to connect with my T68i and edit my phonebook and transfer some pictures, ringtones, themes to the phone. I don't even use Outlook and I have yet to buy a BT headset and I don't plan to use the phone as a modem.

Should I uninstall all of this and install SE's Mobile Phone Monitor instead or SE software needs it in order to function?

2. Once my PC has BT, can I transfer themes, ringtones and pictures both ways?

Unfortanately you do need both. The Phone monitor software is using the BT software as a conduit to talk to your phone. In essence the BT simulates a com port that the phone monitor software then uses to comunicate with the phone. Basically any software that can communicate with your phone via a com port can now use BT. Just tell the software to use one of the BT virtual com ports and the computer will route that info via the BT adapter. In fact a lot of the sw seems to search the com ports automatically so it may not even have a setting to tell it to use a specific com port and will just find it.

In the next windows release I would expect BT to be natively supported so such software in the future shouldn't be necessary.
