So people double post, easy mistake to make. Stop jumping down their throats.
Some people say things which are really silly. Don't insult them, just correct them politely.
This is a great forum, lets make it a pleasure to use please. It's easily the best source of info on the P800.
Thanks.

Sad to hear you think there is a lot of aggression here.... Esato used to be the friendliest forum around.. Still is in many parts but it has grown a lot over the last year or so...

Indeed - it is now very aggressive here. Couple of thoughts:
* It seems the general tone has dropped to the age if 14. I'm pretty certain we're mostly older that that - threats, rants and bitter sniping sure doesn't a community make.
* The forums should, in my opinion, be pruned. Perhaps roll it back to 2003, perhaps cut-out noise (more signal). Either way, you have to do a fair bit of searching here to find stuff and this might be adding to the general sense of chaos.
* Automatically kill posts that start with a rant. this would be someting the admin would probably have to do manually for a few weeks, but someone has to change the tone here. Setting a moral code or guideline (not a rule) can help.

I have to say I was half expecting someone to have a rant at me for posting my opinion on the way a lot of threads seem to go!!
Maybe someone will later!!

Shurely most of the negative posts are "tongue in cheek".
When it is just someone venting anger in a silly way it can easily be ignored & is seen as valueless by all anyway, therefore you wont loose face by not responding.
I like this forum because it does have a huge crossover of nationalities & age groups.
It lets old & young share ideas which wouldnt easily happen in the street, so just make allowances for the kids & their sometimes unstable temperments, rather than frouning on their different interests I dont skateboard myself but people who do it are of all ages nowdays maybe we should all have a go.
I dont think many people come to Esato who are not interested in SE phones.

Don't get me wrong, 90% of posts and replies are good honest debate with opinions. It's the other 10% (and sure a small proportion of it is just from people whose first language isn't English, therefore the grammar errors can make it seem sharper than intended) who just jump down peoples' throats if they say something deemed by them to be stupid, ignorant or the opposite of what they think.
Forums ARE for opinions, personal reviews of products, gossip, help. Not for personal attacks on total strangers who just come by for a little bit of helpful info on their new pride and joy. The SEARCH doesn't always bring up what you are looking for, what's the harm in asking again? Just politely re-direct them to the earlier thread. It will make people stick around on this forum, which is better for Esato as a company, but more importantly, it's better for us. As the more people are on here, the more useful the forum becomes.
Have a good night everyone,
Phil

I very much agree with you Bloomp - communicating on the web takes extra effort and care to do well, and redirecting people to the right information is preferable to impatient flaming or wisecrackery.
I never understand the need to glib retorts online - it doesn't make anyone seem smarter or wiser, and since you can't see people's faces, it's very difficult to tell if they're joking or not. "Oh, I was just kidding" are usually the first words of the true coward.
