How in the world do I get the P800 to a) answer calls when I open the flip and b) hang up when i close it? Is there a way to do this? Otherwise...what is the damn point of having a flip at all? Its annoying when I answer a call by opening the flip, and then say "hello" into a loud ringtone.

There IS a way to do this, right?

Well I understand that it isn't a flip phone per se. But doesn't it seem like an obvious and easy feature to include?

Well... since it's not a flip phone... no it's not an obvious feature to include.

The speakerphone function is something that more people use... and having it activated and de-activated when opening/closing the flip during a call is more useful (someone is asking for info on your P800, so you remove it from your ear, open the flip, speakerphone is activated, and you can continue talking while accessing your PDA) ... it would be kinda embarrassing to hang up on your caller by closing the flip when your done with the PDA functions.

Just hit the jog dial to answer and hang up, its right there by your finger or thumb when you are picking it up anyway.

I think a few of you are missing the point.
1. This is an OPTION that some of us would like not that all of you have to have.
2. If you use the flip to answer the phone then there is a soft key to select speaker phone anyway. If you answer the phone with the OK button then opening the flip will change to speaker phone and a soft key to switch speaker phone off.
3. In MY opinion it is better to answer the phone by opening the flip as you do not need to look at the phone to find the right key to answer it, you just wip it out of your pocket and flip it open as you bring it up to your ear.
4. The problem is, is it actually possible to run an app that monitors the flip and answer a call when opened or does closing the flip stop certain apps from running. or does the action of opening the flip cause things to reset or initialise. I dunno.
Remember this would be an option to those people who would like it.

On the other hand, it's quite easy getting used to using the jogdail to answer/end calls. Especially when you don't use your flip at all. This way, you cannot be confused, and still use your PDA functions during a call.

But it would have been nice (understatement) of SE to make an option for each to deside wether to use the flip to acces the PDA or just to answer/end a call.

I agree whole-heartedly. Surely though, SE could have included this feature. But it's not that big of a deal after all. How stupid can you get if you don't find your way to the jog dial without looking?

It is possible to assign answer/hang up functions to the flip (or anything else you want) using tracker v4, works very well but in my opinion not as easy and instinctive as using the jog dial.

Just downloaded Tracker 4.01 but I can't see how you set it up to do what you mentioned - Are you sure you can make it perform phone answer and hang up to the flip, all I can see is the capability of assigning sounds to open and close flip. Or am I just stupid.
