I just got a 128MB Duo, stuck it in the phone, formatted it under Control Panel/Format Disk but I cannot perform a restore of the old 16MB memory stick... I get an error like 'Invalid restore format'.

Anyone got any ideas? Is it anything to do with the fact that the 128MB is magicgate and the standard one is not?

The MagicGate protection will be transparent to the P800 as it doesn't support it, so it's doubtful it's to do with that.

it's likely the backup/restore is storing the size info of the memory stick or backing up an image of the memory stick that's why you're getting an error when you try to restore to a larger size This message was posted from a P800

Why did you format it? Should have just stuck it in, the P800 recognises its a new card & sets up all standard directory structure.

I have filled mine with .ogg music files for the OggPlayer. Have over 90 pieces of music on it

Going to load my other 128MB with mp4's when I get round to it.

If you MemoryStick Reader that works with PC, try reformatting on PC then just insert into P800 (advice taken at your own risk )

For the guy who asked:
Got one from p800er.com (Singapore) & other from Brando (Honk Kong)
expect to be on Back Order though. Not aware of anywhere in UK (or Europe) that sells them yet.

I formatted it cos when I went to Windows Explorer and tried to browse (to check if it was formatted) it threw an exception and closed it. I (naturally) assumed that this was a continuation of the buggy PC software for the SE. Also, every other memory card I've ever bought has required formatting.

I got it from www.avland.co.uk but they don't have stock for at least two weeks now...
