Its poly. U still can't setup your own, but at least theres few to choose (6 or 8 , don't remember exactly)

yes i agree, ericsson and sony and sony ericsson phones have just 2-3 sms tones and they r so soft to hear, unless u keep your phone in your pocket all the time, otherwise easily missed the sms ......
hope that doesnt happen to T610

afaik you can choose from only 10 fixed sms tones. goddamnit still no custom alerts!
