> why is the t610 screen stn and not tft?

firstly, i have to admit that i really don't know the advantages of tft screens to stn screens. t610 screen is 65k colours, so i wonder, does it really matter if it's tft or stn? i believe that a 65k colour screen is always going to look great.

TFT and STN are all LCD screens...
The difference is in the implementation. Aside from bright daylight situations (where STN screens look dark) the T610 screen looks fantastic!

Grab hold of a p800 or a nokia 3650 and compare it to a samsung t100 and really see the diference.What more of the latest models v200,t500.In terms of brightnes and color vividness and hues,the TFT beats the STN.The only drawback i think of the TFT is it is a power guzzler;it consumes battery faster than the STN.

Stn=super twisted nematic
Tft=thin film transistor(m nt so sure)

Well this is my (layman's) understanding of it (please correct if way off the mark!)...
The difference is essentially that TFT is an active matrix in that it turns pixels both on and off. An STN screen is a passive matrix - it turns the pixels on but not off - they turn themselves 'off' after a short delay of not being 'on'.
The result is that STN screens can sometimes appear blurry if there is a rapid amount of change in what is being displayed (aka ghosting) as the pixels don't quite keep up with what should be displayed as they don't turn off fast enough. A TFT screen will keep up much faster since all the pixels are being actively turned on and off as required. TFT screens consume a lot more power though and are so quite rare in devices like mobile phones where power is a premium. The few phones that do employ TFT screens (e.g. Samsung T100) tend to have much poorer battery performance. Hence if the manufacturers can make STN screens good enough they make much more sense than TFT for mobile phones.

I have a question re the topic:
i ve been doing some research and i learnt that TFT screens use a A/C current thus the ability to turn pixels on and off (and u dont really need a screen saver) while a STN uses a D/C current (thus we need a screen saver and it is not able to force a pixel off)...
If this is true, (at least on a PC screen), please someone tell me how can a phone like Samsung utilise an A/C current.. thanks

but p800 screen is tft. 3650 is stn i think. the only difference between these and t100's is that they're just 4096.
