Just curious, but have many of you who used to use PocketPC and Palm PDAs abandoned them when you got a P800? I used to carry an old WinCE gadget (HP Jornada) and a phone all the time, but got rid of them to carry just one device, the P800. It's worth it, in my book.
Would like to hear the opinions and experiences of others.
I think that as smartphones get smarter the old PDAs will fade away.

The new PDAs will have phone capabilities (Palm Tungsten W) and the new phones will have PDA capabilities. In the end, they'll all be the same.
I havn't used my old Palm Vx since I got my P800. Why carry more than one thing?

I have an iPAQ H3970 PDA, a Ericsson P800 and a Nokia 7650. The P800 is definitely not a PDA killer yet. The calender and tasks applications are far from perfect on the P800. On my PDA I use Agenda Fusion. This applications is full with features for managing my apointments, tasks and contacts. Something I am looking for the P800. The PIM of the P800 is too basic.
Syncing my appointments from my P800 with Outlook is a pain in the ass. I have Windows ME and so far nothing but troubles.
I do think that if developers come with more sophisticated softwares for the P800, things would change. For instance Tracker of Symbianware is really a cool and usefull application. Before this app I prefer to use my Nokia 7650 more than the P800. The navigation of the Nokia is more friendly and quicker. The photo's made with the Nokia has a better quality.
Now with Tracker I am using my P800 more. I would definitely leave my iPAQ at home if an application like Agenda Fusion would be made available for the P800.

never had a P800 myself, but my mate bought a Compaq ipaq to go with his Nokia 6310 about a fortnite before the P800 was available in the UK, as soon as he saw my P800 he went straight and bought one, and hasn't touched his ipaq since

I know that syncing with Outlook is a pain in the ass sometimes, but it doesn't get any better if you're running bad old WinME! Get rid of it! That will solve any problems you must have in general with your computer! Get WinXP Pro, it does it for me!

well, I don't know it changing the OS will improve your syncing capabilaty, but it will surely improve the stability of your computer. Go for the Win2k then, but it's just a myth that you need at least 256MB RAM to run WinXP, it runs well on a 128 MB computer too. (I have 1 GB cas2 RAM, and that also works...)

I sold my iPAQ3970 which I used with my T68 for the P800. I much prefer the P800 but must admit I miss AgendaFusion app. & hope something similar comes out for P800.
P800 main benefits over iPAQ
Size
All in one device
Battery life
Stability (especially with R2D firmware)
I really miss the iPAQ3970 64K screen though

Also I use TomTom Navigator 2 (a 3D GPS software) with my IPAQ. So it would be hard for the P800 to completely replace my IPAQ. The screen of the P800 is too small compared to the iPAQ for navigation.

Since the phone is "software" sometimes I would call someone and the answering machine would come up and I would try over and over to hang up but when the software was busy (or a background app), I couldn't hang up. So the person on the other end would get me trying to hang up on the message. It DROVE ME NUTS. BUT didn't happen all the time.
I was also getting HORRIBLE reception. About 40% of the time I couldn't even make a phone call. And sometimes I would just get cut off. I actually just got my replacement today. I'll see if it's any better. If not, it's up for sale
Got the P800 just last week. I agree w/ the others here... it's a ways out from replacing a PocketPC device on the PIM software alone (which I do use and depend on often). Got it for BT and camera.
I think if a PocketPC Phone edition came out w/ a camera, BT and was about the size of the P800, I'd take it. Samsung came close w/ the camera.. but left out the BT on the most recent device of theirs.. duh! Talk about falling JUST short!
Anyway, that's my experience.
PS. ONE more thing... Lack of AvantGO is KILLING me on this P800. Used it ALL the time on the PocketPC PE.
