> walkie-talkie feature on the way for AT&T GSM
Bookmark topic
Just something that came over the line at work... AT&T Wireless is currently developing walkie-talkie service (similar to Nextel's Direct Connect) for it's GSM network. I didn't get an ETR on it, but it shouldn't be too long.... maybe end of the summer.
Just thought I'd let you all know, as I don't think it's been made public yet.

Cingular is launching the same BS... It's over GPRS so there's still a delay and bugs on it (no GPRS coverage, no connection). Plus I've heard that you can only 2 way with GPRS customers. I'm thinking of getting that program for my P800.

Yeah and you need GPRS to use it.. It uses 1kb for every time you push and talk.... If there's no GPRS, you have no connection and there's at least a 1-2 second delay....
