Gotten myself a MS stick reader yesterday (upgraded to P800). Was dissappointed that SE introduced the MS Duo (for P800) over the MMC coz I have the MP3 attachment which was using MMC. What's more, I had purchased a 64mb MMC and MMC reader previously.

But guess what, all the complains I had was quickly dissolved when I notice a great speed difference in transfering files between the 2 medias.

It took me but only a few seconds to copy 2 MP3 files (about 7mb) into the MS Duo. Previously on the MMC, that will take a minute or more. The time factor is multiplied when more MP3s are copied at the same time. WOW! I have heard that MMC is slow but only now do I realised what I was living with for the past year with MMC.

Also, I will NEVER copy any big files through the PC Suite ever again. The last time I copied 5 MP3s into my P800, the whole process took like 30 minutes!!! Now, with the reader, MP3s got into my P800 like in seconds for each song...

Trust me, if you could, do invest in a USB MS stick reader/writer. Life is so much smoother with it... it is for me...

Yes, i have to admit, i tooo was annoyed with the descision to go for Memory stick duo, coz i too have plenty of MMC/SD cards, and MS duo is expensive, and difficult to obtain. However the speed/relaiability of the MS is far greater than MMC. I remember on my Palm, when launching even a small application from MMC would take significantly longer. SD was quicker, but not much. On MSD I am launching Opera, and its quick, almost the same as running it form system mem.

I have also had some issues with MMC, in that it would get corrupt easily, and cause endless amount of grief, whereas MSD does seem more reliable. Plus that little "key fob holder" the Duo comes with is a nice touch!
