does anyone know which one is good for which, WAP or GPRS?
in terms of cost and speed
eg email, mms, download ringing tones/logo, etc, read news ......
then what about downloading ringing tones, logo, screen savers, theme, icons from this forum page and also from sony ericsson official homepage
they asked you to connect WAP from your mobile phone or either download them and transfer them thru IrDa, which i will use when i get my T610 (cant wait)
it's free to download from them, but u still need to pay for the amount of mb u got from them, right ?
so is that more economic to use GPRS or WAP ?
any suggestion ?

Hmmm u make a SMALL confusion between the terms. When u say WAP u actually mean CSD (analogic transfer at 9,6 kbps per second). Well, GPRS all the way then in my humble opinion

I prefer the Gsm becouse with the Gprs I have some errors (Too Long, Transaction Error) when I try to send an email. I think the Gsm in more stable.

Beware, spam coming!
GSM WAP was the first way out of the two to access WAP. It involves calling a dialup number, much like dial-up home PC internet access, and having data transferred up and down that line. As such, it suffers from a few problems. With GSM wap, you are connected to the dial up number whether you are sending/receiving information or not.
This means that GSM WAP can be quite expensive - if you get 1 page and then look at it for 30 minutes, you will be billed for 30 minutes usage. Plus, all this time, your phone will be engaged and you cannot receive calls.
GSM is also a service developed for actual voice calls - call a number, stay connected even if you're silent.
GPRS WAP is the newer of the two access methods. Instead of dialling a number, you access an APN (access point name) and only stay connected while you're downloading information. Most phones have a "linger time" option - in this example we'll say its set to 120 seconds. This means that after 120 seconds of inactivity (no downloading or uploading of data) the phone will disconnect from GPRS. As such, 30 minutes spent viewing 1 page would cost an awful lot less than on GSM.
GPRS was developed solely for data transfer and is, in theory, faster than GSM. The thing about the speed of GPRS is that it can be affected by a large amount of factors - handset type, signal strength and so on - as such it's not really sold on its speed.
In nearly all cases GPRS is better than GSM, unless your service provider is quite cheap and you're planning to download a lot of stuff from one specific place in which case it
may be cheaper to use GSM.
Hope this helps,
Jalu

You can't compare WAP with GPRS, they're two different things. However, you may compare WAP/WML with xHTML or GPRS versus CSD/HSCSD.
WML, xHTML are tools meant for displaying information on mobile devices. Much like using HTML for making your webpages, or maybe for a sazzier page, Flash. WML was the first language, xHTML is meant to replace it altogether (if only W3C can have it way.)
While CSD/HSCSD and GPRS are means of connecting to those servers (thru your SP) that hosts those WAP sites, just like your computer's dial-up or broadband (xDSL, cable, etc) connections going to your ISP.
I think,
thisarticle gives newbies a very good explanation about these technologies.
