Hello from a P800 newbie. I have t-mobile service and just found out (after purchase) they don't offer phone insurance. Can anyone tell me where i can get my phone insured here in the US, without having to go through homeowner's insurance. Sorry if this has been asked b4, i did a search and could find nothing of relevance to my question. Great forum btw. Thanks in advance for any help offered.

ahhh....but worth it in hindsight of losing your precious p800 or having it stolen! i'd most likely pay that much

My carrier here (Optus) offered insurance for A$7 per month, with national coverage up to A$1650 for theft, accidental loss or damage. (US dollar is half the Aussie dollar).
My house insurance contents also offered cover, but it cost more, and examination of the fine print meant that I had less cover than what my mobile carrier offered.
Even though it's a nuisance, get the insurance under household contents anyway. Then I would try a broker. Someone must be insuring phones in your area.
Whatever, get the phone insured before you show it off - it's not only a highly desirable object of theft, but it'd be a real nuisance if you were suddenly without it for any reason

It's £149 for 3yrs on handsets bought outside the Link
You can't claim in the first 30days but it will transfer to any other handset you buy from us. No loss cover but that is available for £1.99 a month extra.

Just thought of something about insurance. My phone is very comprehensively covered by Orange, but what about my shiny new 128 MB Duo in the side. Does anyone know whether home insurance or something covers this as its worth almost a third of the value of the phone again...

Good point alidick. I rang my carrier and my insurance will cover whatever situation the phone was in when lost, stolen, etc.including the Duo that was in the phone ***at the time of loss***. My total cover is for up to A$1650 (about US$ 800), including attachments and accessories. They have said that they consider any Duo to be part of the working operations of the phone. The phone cost me $A1070 (about US$500) here, so I still have about $A580 (about US$300) to cover a larger 128MB Duo.
