> T68i as a bluetooth adapter
Bookmark topic
Hi, this might be a new one for all of you...
Is it possible, by linking my T68i to laptop using a data cable (USB in my case), to use the T68i as a bluetooth adapter?? (i.e. instead of buying a bluetooth card for my laptop).
I assume this would require some special software if it is possible.
Thanks.

Nope.
I see where you're coming from but no such software exists and there are practical problems like the fact that the reason it works is because the PC creates a virtual bluetooth serial port.
Basically, just no.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I understand what you said, although I don't know much about bluetooth and creating virtual serial ports
However, I believe the data cable I have (Sony Ericsson DCU-10) also creates a virtual serial port. It appears in the device manager under "ports" as a com port - could this make it possible to develop software to make the T68i a bluetooth adapter?
I just wonder if there would be a way to activate bluetooth in the same way that GPRS is activated by creating a dial-up connection and dialling a GPRS "access number". I'm just thinking out loud, and probably making no sense!
Either way, I understand there is no software available at this stage so it's not possible.

It would help if you could specify exactly what you intend to do with it... or what you're trying to do.
If you could use your T68i as a BT adapter, what would you pair it with? Or why would you want to do that? If it's already connected to your PC... why would you need a BT connection?

Good point
I would like to use it to link my laptop to my Pocket PC. All I'm really trying to do is avoid forking out the cash for a bluetooth card for my laptop.
