i presume that you've got the driver for the cradle itself ?

you'll need the data suite AND the driver to get it to work.

the driver can be downloaded from http://www.sonyericsson.com/downloads/usb_driver_dcu11.zip

have u done this: Quote:DCOM98 1.3
To be able to run the PC Suite for P800 on Windows 98, you need to have DCOM98 version 1.3 or later installed. Version 1.3 of DCOM98 is available for download at:
www.microsoft.com/com/dcom/dcom98/dcom1_3.asp

How to check if DCOM98 version 1.3 is installed:
1. Select Run... from the Start Menu.
2. Type regedit and press Enter to start the Registry Editor.
3. Find the following key in the Registry Editor:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTCLSID{bdc67890-4fc0-11d0-a805-00aa006d2ea4}InstalledVersion
4. If the key is set to at least '4,71,0,3328' you already have DCOM98 version 1.3 or later installed.

which is found at the bottom of the download page for 1.5.1.

just an idea

I don't really remember win98 anymore. Haven't used it since 99. Though you should be able to do an advanced installation where you have to show windows exactly where the drivers are installed. You can do it in NT4, ME, 2000 and XP pro/home. So you should be able to do that in 98 and not just do a normal search on cd, hdd, floppy (that way almost always suck).

ok,
extract the zip file to somewhere on your computer that you'll remember it - say in a subfolder of the c:\program files\Sony Ericsson directory.
Then go into device manager and there should be an entry under USB for a device that's not working (got a red cross next to it).
Choose properties or whatever will allow you to update/install the driver.
Choose the recommended method and then manually specify the location with the driver in it (c:\program files\Sony Ericsson ) ...

good luck mate

is the p800 pc software win9x compatible? A friend had to upgrade his pc when he got the p800. I haven't confirmed this tho. This message was posted from a T68i
